The church restoration
is now complete!

Sponsor sign listing all donors who gave at least $1,000. If you feel that you should be listed here and do not find your name, please contact us at: Historic_Highlandlake@msn.com

We now have an outside donation box thanks to the Boy Scout who chose this and the sponsor sign as his Eagle Scout project. The lock is secure and we check the box everyday.

Deacon L. C. Mead - $20,000 and up

The State Historical fund (SHF) was created by the constitutional amendment allowing limited gaming in the towns of Cripple Creek, Central City, and Black Hawk. The amendment directs that a portion of the gaming tax revenues be used for historic preservation throughout the state.

Approximately $15 million is available for distribution annually, and funds are distributed through a competitive process. All projects must demonstrate strong public benefit and community support. Grants vary in size, from a few hundred dollars to amounts in excess of $100,000. The Fund assists in a wide variety of preservation projects including restoration and rehabilitation of historic buildings, architectural assessments, archaeological excavations, designation and interpretation of historic places, preservation planning studies, and education and training programs.

SHF has awarded more than $211 million in grants to more than 3,300 projects since 1993. Over the four years of our restoration of the Highlandlake Church, SHF donated over $168,00 in grants for stabilization of the church building and restoration of the exterior, interior and windows.

Seeley Family Foundation
The Seeley Family Foundation read about our plight and sent us an unsolicited donation of $20,000 to help restore the Highlandlake church building. Their donation allowed us to meet the match required for phase one of the church repairs and restoration.

Rev. Mary Bumstead - $10,000 - $19,999

the Collaborative inc.

John Fienberg and his firm has donated untold hours, dollars and expert advice to our project.  Established in 1974, the firm is dedicated to bringing history alive through the preservation of historic communities, sites and buildings. Whether it is the discovery and recovery of historic integrity in a building or community, providing the solution for preservation technology problems, or interpreting of history, John's select group of preservation professionals will advance the project to successful completion.

Judge F. P. Waite - $5,000 - $9,999

Stuart and Cathy Barnes have donated the costs of repairing three of the four large cathedral windows on the west wall. (The fourth window was donated by the Mead Area community Foundation). These windows were not covered by grants from SHF as they contain religious symbols. Stuart tells me that next year they plan on donating the cost of repairs for the top windows. Thanks Stuart and Cathy!

Modafferi Construction, inc. Pete, although hired as our carpenter/contractor, has also donated over $5,000 in materials, time and labor to help us finish phase one of our project. Without his donated time and effort, we would not have been able to finish this phase. Thanks Pete!

Special thanks to all of you who have donated your $5, $10, $20, $50 and $75 contributions. While there are too many of you to mention individually, we know that without you we would never be able to reach our goals!
