Frederick Fletcher Weston

F. F. Weston, 89, Dies; Retired U. S. Official

Frederick Fletcher Weston, 89, of 2200 Forest Glen Rd, Silver Spring, a Federal employee for the 31 years, died early today at his home.

     Son of the late Charles M. and Harriet A. Weston, he was born in Reading, Mass., and went with his parents to Central City, Colo. in 1865. After graduation from Oberlin College, he served as a printer for seven years on the Register in Central City. Later he was engaged in the printing business in Winterset, Iowa.

     In 1896 he came here to enter the Government Printing Office and later transferred tot he Post Office Department. At the time of his retirement in 1927 he was chief of the Printing and Stationery Division at the Treasury Department.

     A resident of Silver Spring since 1915, Mr. Weston was a member of Columbia Typographical Union and the Association of Veteran Union Printers. He was a senior warden of Grace Episcopal Church, Silver Spring. He formally was a member of the Acacia Lodge of the Masons and transferred to Silver spring Lodge, No. 215.
     He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Eloise F. Weston, whom he married in 1912; a son, Walter M. Weston, and a daughter, Mrs. Bertha W. Martin, both of Washington.
Funeral arrangements have not been completed.

(Editors Note: Weston's first wife was Electa Mead, daughter of L. C. Mead and his first wife, Roxanna Peet Mead. Electa was the mother of his three children, Winifred (died as in childhood), Walter and Bertha. Fred and Electa were married in Longmont, CO on March 10, 1878 and lived in Highlandlake, where all three of their children were born. There are references to them in the Longmont Ledger and Highlandlake records until about 1890).
