Contributions made to help restore damaged church
MEAD -- Plans to restore a church damaged during last March's blizzard are gathering steam with the announcement that the State Historical Fund will provide $70,000 to continue funding the project.
The weight of snow resting on the Highlandlake Church's roof after the storm caused the walls of the 108-year-old building to bow outward and set its foundation stones in motion.
Earlier grants from the Colorado Historical Societies fund paid last summer for an assessment of the structure's restoration needs and for emergency repair work to the foundation.
The estimated cost for restoring the church which sits west of Mead, is $200,000.
