Clarence Carlyle Woodley, age 80, of Prairie City,
passed away Thursday, May 25, at his residence.
Carlyle was born Oct. 14, 1914, in Mead, Colorado, to
Walter and Caroline Woodley.
He was in the ranching and farming business on the
family farm in Mead, CO. He raised and broke draft horses. On Nov. 2.
1935, he married Beatrice Miller and to this union was born two sons.
He managed a ranch for Swanson Brothers in Monument,
CO. From there he managed the Tannenbaum Ranch in the Black Forest (near
Colorado Springs, CO). Later, he moved his family to Sumpter and managed
the Bar C Bar Ranch. He also worked for the Sumpter Dredge and the
Buffalo mine. He then moved to Prairie City where he worked for Gene
Ricco, then went to work for D.R. Johnson until he retired. Carlyle was
very fond of his dog, Daisy. Daisy was given to Carlyle by his grandson
Mark 14 years ago. He also loved his horses.
Carlyle was a member of the Sumpter Masonic Lodge
#125. He is survived by his two sons, Merritt Woodley of Prairie City
and Myron Woodley of Sumpter; four grandchildren, Jeanett K. Session of
St. Helens, Mark Woodley of Prineville, Carla Sue of Redmond, and Tami
Karrels of La Grande; three nieces, Carolyn Rush and Family of Lakewood,
CO., Rita Thomas of Denver, CO., and Joan Cachburn of Littleton, CO.,
and eleven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother
and one grandson.
Memorial services will be held at the Prairie City
Cemetery on Saturday, June 3, with Pastor Steve Landis officiating.

School Rodeo Association.
